The Immigration Department has made a final decision that continuing “automatic stay extension” for foreigners in Vietnam.
– Follow this regulation, travelers who entered Vietnam on a visa waiver, e-visa, or tourist visa after March 1st, 2020 are entitled to automatic visa extension until January 31st, 2021 and can leave Vietnam without having to extend your visa before that time.
– Also, travelers who entered Vietnam before March 1st, 2020, the same automatic stay extension can be considered, subject to the provision of proof that the person was stranded in Vietnam due to Covid-19, accompanied by a diplomatic Note (with Vietnamese translation) from a relevant diplomatic mission, or a written document from relevant Vietnamese authorities confirming that the person was required to undergo mandatory quarantine or treatment for Covid-19, or advice of other force majeure. The concerned person is required to present the diplomatic note or written document on departure from Vietnam.
– During the automatic visa extension period, foreigners have to complete a temporary residence and health status declaration.
Those who are not subject to automatic stay extension of this guidance or breach the laws will be treated according to applicable laws of Vietnam.
