Vietnam visa requirements for US citizens

US passport holders have REQUIRED a visa to visit Vietnam for any purpose such as tourism, business, working, visiting relatives, holiday… But US citizens can visit Phú Quốc Island without a visa for up to 30 days. You must arrive at Phú Quốc Island directly from a third country, or from airports in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City where they will clear immigration and proceed to the domestic terminals.

It should be noted, all the Vietnam Embassies or Consulates close on Saturday, Sunday and other Official Vietnamese and American Holidays.

II. Visa on arrival online

Another way to get a Vietnam visa is applying for a visa on arrival online. In this way, you don’t need to visit the Vietnam Embassies or Consulate in the United States. In short, you just need to complete 03 simple steps as below:

Be received the visa approval letter via email.
Print out and submit the letter on arrival airport to get the visa sticker into your passport.

Importantly, the visa on arrival airport accepts only when you travel by air. If you enter Vietnam via borderland, you have to visit the Consulate to get a visa stamp beforehand.
